A Saratoga County man has been accused of fraudulently obtaining public assistance benefits, highlighting the importance of the integrity of our social support systems. Oscar Bogran, 46, of Hadley is facing charges after allegedly providing false information to secure more than $1,000 in benefits.
The investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office alleges Bogran knowingly submitted forged childcare-related documentation to the Department of Social Services and provided a false account of his household size. This type of welfare fraud violates the trust placed in these essential programs.
Bogran is currently charged with three counts: criminal possession of a forged instrument, offering a false instrument for filing, and welfare fraud. Despite the accusations, he has been released on his own recognizance, pending further court proceedings.
