Saratoga County authorities recently made two arrests related to charges of possessing and promoting child sexual abuse material. Both individuals were apprehended following tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The first arrest was Shawn Edwards, 32, of Grahamsville. He was taken into custody Friday, May 8th, after police executed a search warrant at his home. State Police confirmed Edwards was charged with disseminating sexually explicit material to a minor and promoting a sexual performance by a child.
Separately, William Peters, 53, of Halfmoon was arrested the same day. Troopers executed a search warrant at his residence and charged him with possessing and promoting a sexual performance by a child. State Police indicated both investigations were prompted by NCMEC reports.
Edwards was released on a combination of cash, bond, and secured bonds, with his next court appearance scheduled for May 18th. Peters was also released on bond following his arraignment. Both cases are serious and highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address these crimes.
