The Halfmoon Police Department is reporting a significant arrest following an investigation by the New York State Police. William J. Peters, a 53-year-old resident of Halfmoon, is facing serious charges related to child sexual abuse material.
Peters was arrested on May 8th by State Police in Clifton Park. His arrest was the result of an investigation initiated by a cyber tip received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), with substantial assistance from the State Police Troop G Computer Crimes Unit and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
Upon his arrest, Peters appeared in Halfmoon Town Court where he was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility. His release is conditional on posting either $10,000 cash, a $20,000 bond, or a $150,000 partially secured bond.
