It was a proud moment for our community as Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-Ballston Lake) recently announced Dawn Vavala of Halfmoon as the 2026 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction. This honor recognizes outstanding contributions by women in New York State, and Dawn certainly embodies that spirit.
Dawn has been a dedicated small business owner in the Capital Region for over 25 years. She currently runs Nite Owl Marketing in Clifton Park, specializing in custom apparel and promotional products. Before that, she successfully owned and operated Tuxego. Having grown up in Schenectady and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, her roots are firmly in the area.
Known for her leadership in local business, Dawn is also recognized for her significant community support. She is a major backer of the Schenectady School District Educational Foundation, showing her commitment to the well-being of the region. Her recognition as Woman of Distinction celebrates not just her business success, but her positive impact on the community around her.
