On May 8th, state police arrested William J. Peters, a 53-year-old from Halfmoon, on charges related to child sexual exploitation in Clifton Park. The charges include a class D felony for promoting a sexual performance by a child and a class E felony for possessing such material.
The investigation, initiated by a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, involved significant collaboration between state police, the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Peters was processed at the State Police barracks in Clifton Park and later appeared in Halfmoon Town Court. He was released from custody pending trial, secured by a $10,000 cash bond, a $20,000 bond, or a $150,000 partially secured bond. This case underscores the community’s commitment to upholding laws protecting children.
