Vanderheyden and Chinese Community Center Partner To Train Peer Advocates

Vanderheyden is excited to announce a new partnership with the Chinese Community Center of Albany! This collaboration aims to recruit and train Youth and Family Peer Advocates, thanks to a significant state grant from the Office of Mental Health.

The $275,000 grant funds this initiative, which partners Vanderheyden with five grassroots organizations, including the Chinese Community Center across six counties. This training is crucial for expanding the vital Peer Advocate workforce in New York State.

Peer Advocate training includes stipends for completing three levels, totaling up to $2,250. The Chinese Community Center, a key resource for the Capital Region’s Chinese and AAPI communities, will use creative outreach like bubble tea gatherings and calligraphy events to promote the program. This partnership ensures culturally responsive support for youth and families navigating mental health challenges.
