The Saratoga County community continues to be fortunate to have dedicated law enforcement partners actively working to keep our area safe. On May 8, 2026, New York State Police in Clifton Park arrested William J. Peters, 53 of Halfmoon, following an investigation.
Mr. Peters is accused of two serious felonies related to child sexual abuse material: Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony. The investigation was initiated by a cyber tip received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and was aided by State Police, the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
After his arrest at the State Police station in Clifton Park, Peters appeared in Halfmoon Town Court where he was released under a substantial bond arrangement. His release is contingent upon $10,000 cash, $20,000 unsecured bond, or a $150,000 partially secured bond. This case underscores the collaborative efforts across agencies to address such serious crimes.
