A man in Saratoga Springs has died following a fight between two homeless individuals on West Avenue near Washington Street, authorities reported Monday morning. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Investigators searched the area throughout the day, examining evidence and looking for a possible weapon, a machete.
Local businesses near the scene were disturbed by the early morning chaos. Brent Fryer from Wolberg Lighting Design and Electrical Supply shared that he noticed police and fire trucks blocking the road, indicating something was seriously wrong despite the company not experiencing heavy traffic.
The victim was identified as 44-year-old Andrew J. Foy, and the suspect is reported to be 52-year-old Eric D. Smith. The suspect is currently in custody, but no charges have been filed by the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office. Police stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
