Saratoga Springs police are investigating a tragic stabbing that occurred on the morning of April 14th. The incident began as a reported fight around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Washington Street and West Avenue, specifically close to a Stewart’s Shop. One man was found suffering serious injuries by officers who responded quickly to the scene.
The victim, identified as John “Clay” Williamson Jr., 44, was transported to Saratoga Hospital but later pronounced dead. A suspect, Kyle D. Baker, 52, was located by police at the scene and arrested without incident. West Avenue was briefly closed for the investigation.
Baker, described as being without a stable home and reportedly living in a wooded area near the train station, was arraigned on charges including second-degree murder. While the District Attorney suggests the altercation might have been over a relatively small amount of money, the investigation is ongoing.
