SARATOGA SPRINGS – Just after 5 p.m. on Thursday, Bank of America employees reported a thrilling escape when police apprehended a man attempting to rob their branch. Thankfully, no money was taken during the incident, and the suspect was quickly identified and arrested.
Saratoga Springs police arrived swiftly, and thanks to the prompt information from the bank staff and the dispatchers, officers located Eric Headwell entering a nearby business. Headwell, a 61-year-old Cambridge resident, was identified and arrested without incident. He faces charges of attempted robbery in the third degree.
Headwell, who does not have a prior local record mentioned in the initial news, is a registered sex offender. He was arrested and is scheduled to appear in Saratoga Springs City Court on April 28th. The quick arrest was credited to the officers’ response and the valuable information provided by everyone involved.
