With the recent Disney•Pixar movie Hoppers hitting the big screen, interest in beavers and environmentalism is definitely making a splash! Right here in our Capital Region, a very special beaver named Bo is helping to make this trend real and local.
Bo’s story began in May 2024 when a storm separated him from his family. A wildlife rehabilitator named Alexis Broz-LaRoche, who runs the non-profit Wild For Life, welcomed the newborn beaver kit, initially unsure if he’d thrive but quickly finding his presence undeniable.
Though Bo wasn’t suited for release back into the wild, his rescue spurred Alexis to establish her own rescue organization, Wild For Life, dedicated to helping animals return to their natural habitats in Upstate New York.
