Investigators determined Ms. Polizzi had been living in the shed since August 2024. The shed lacked running water and heat, and an autopsy revealed her death was caused by sepsis from untreated bedsores. Police stated she was unable to care for herself before her death, and her son, Joseph Polizzi, the primary caretaker, failed to provide adequate medical care.
