Glens Falls city leaders are raising concerns about some children riding bicycles in an overly aggressive manner, taking to the road and swerving into traffic, according to recent reports.
While these behaviors are causing worry, Mayor Diana Palmer noted that the actions, though inappropriate, are not always illegal, which restricts the ability of police to issue citations, especially to minors under 16.
Police remind everyone that parents can sometimes be held accountable for their children’s actions, and so far this spring, no one has been injured or involved in an accident with a bicycle. The city urges all bike riders to follow the rules of the road for everyone’s safety.
It serves as a good reminder for all areas, including Saratoga County, that sharing roadways requires awareness and adherence to traffic laws, regardless of the mode of transportation.
