The Steel Brotherhood motorcycle club confirmed Thursday that their charity ride, “Ride for Eddie,” planned to honor Eddie Jordan, the 10-year-old boy whose mother, Rebecca Jordan, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in his January death, will still proceed as scheduled on May 28. Despite the tragic developments, the club is committed to continuing the event, stating it’s “more important” now than ever to show support.
Organizer Matthew Brennan explained the ride began as a way to remember Eddie after the club, through their outreach work, connected with the Jordan family during their time of need, including providing Thanksgiving meal delivery and supplies for their home cleanup. When learning of Eddie’s death, the club decided to honor him through Shatekon Elementary School, collaborating with the school’s backpack drive initiative.
The school community continues to focus on support, and the club hopes the ride, open to all vehicle types with a $5 donation, will help those in need, just as their previous Thanksgiving outreach did. Brennan emphasized that while the mother’s arrest was surprising and met with silence, it won’t change the club’s path.
