The St. John Fisher women’s golf team wrapped up their 2025-26 season with a strong performance, securing a second-place finish at the Northeast Women’s Golf Conference (NWGC) Championship held at the Van Patten Golf Club in Clifton Park. They concluded the two-round tournament with a final score of 129-over-par 705, finishing 27 strokes behind SUNY Cortland, who claimed the title and earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship.
Fisher started strong, taking the lead after the first round with a score of 344 (+57). However, SUNY Cortland made a significant surge in the second round, shooting 45-over-par 333 and clinching the victory. Despite the loss, the Cardinals showed impressive resilience, finishing with a +73 total score.
Several Cardinals stood out during the event. Freshmen Emma Sweazy and Bella O’Rourke led the team in the top 10 rankings. Sweazy finished tied for second overall, just three strokes behind champion Giana Milazzo, after posting solid scores of +82 and +81 in the two rounds. O’Rourke, despite a challenging final round, still managed a birdie during her first round and finished tied for 20th. Senior Paige Landers placed tied for 13th, and junior Paige Lasher took 15th place.
