Russell Sage College celebrated its annual ‘Senior Day’ with a doubleheader against SUNY Brockport, honoring twelve student-athletes for their contributions to the baseball program. Congratulations go out to Nolan Sniffen, Anthony Rizzo, Joseph Karpierz, Evan Grimes, Mark Yorio, Collin Casey, Xavier Garcia, Shane Smith, Aidan Green, Greg Mays, Andrew Santa Barbara, and Richie Tamsett!
The Gators, now leading the Empire 8 Conference with a 24-5/13-1 record, split the doubleheader. In Game One, Russell Sage fought back from a tie to win 7-4, with Evan Grimes hitting a crucial two-run homer. Game Two saw a more decisive 8-2 victory, highlighted by another two-run homer from Grimes and strong performances from the pitching staff, securing the split and the conference lead.
Head Coach Matt Marsh expressed pride in his team’s mental toughness and resilience during the series, particularly praising the starting pitching (Aidan Green, Xavier Garcia) and the team’s support for the pitchers in Game Two. Well done, Gators!
