The Empire 8 Conference has released its Players of the Week for the period March 30-April 5, 2026, recognizing outstanding performances across various sports including baseball, softball, and more. This marks the 32nd weekly honors release of the 2025-26 season.
In baseball, SUNY Brockport’s Matthew Coon maintained his impressive hitting streak, leading offensively with a .529 average and six extra base hits, while Russell Sage’s Evan Grimes earned co-player of the week honors with a strong .385 batting average and valuable production at the plate and on the mound. Brockport also claimed the Pitcher of the Week with Tyler Pohlman’s effective outing, and St. John Fisher’s Hunter Fales, a freshman, was named Rookie of the Week with exceptional hitting stats.
For softball, St. John Fisher’s Taylor Shackleton led the offense with a .619 batting average, 18 RBIs, and four home runs during a winning week for her team. These athletes are shining examples of skill and dedication in the Empire 8 Conference.
