The United States Coast Guard Academy women’s rowing team had a strong homecoming on the Thames River, defeating NEWMAC rival Mount Holyoke College. With a favorable tail current, the Bears secured multiple victories against the Lyons.
In the 1V race, Coast Guard surged from the start, crossing the line in a dominant 6:59.9, nearly 14 seconds faster than Mount Holyoke. The 2V and 3V crews also performed well, finishing ahead of their respective opponents in their matchups.
The novice 4V crew, composed entirely of newcomers, showed impressive resilience, settling into a rhythm and finishing just behind Mount Holyoke despite a tough start. Both teams will now travel to Worcester for the NEWMAC Championships this Saturday, featuring local talent from Saratoga Springs like Laine Emanatian and Giselle Johnson.
