Cumberland, ME – It was a big win for Alex MacDonald this weekend, who captured his first victories of the season aboard the longshot favorite To My Credit in the $7,000 featured Winners Over trot at Cumberland Raceway on Saturday (April 11). The 6-year-old gelding, trained by Mr. Allison MacDonald, controlled the pace from the start, setting fractions of :28.3 and 1:01.1 before ultimately winning wire-to-wire in a time of 2:02.4.
While To My Credit dominated the early stages, the race saw several contenders emerge. Second choice Brutalizer was covered by favorite Big Al M before the latter suffered an off track incident, and Jax Spratt battled strongly with Brutalizer nearing the end. However, To My Credit held on for the win, increasing his lifetime earnings to $84,126. MacDonald also picked up another win later in the day with Stub N Bugs.
Other local connections celebrated successes too, with the Harrington team (Andy and Sara) winning three races: Pax Hanover, Dreamfair Fantasy, and Whisper Of Luck. Nick Graffam also secured three wins. Racing continues Sunday with a full card, including another $7,000 Winners Over pace.
