Smith College’s No. 6 ranked rowing team had a fantastic showing at the New York State Rowing Championships this past weekend in Saratoga Springs! Their impressive Varsity 8 crew finished an outstanding third overall in the Grand Final, clocking a time of 7:18.874. This was the fastest time recorded by any Division III team in the race.
Their success continued in the morning heats, where the Varsity 8 claimed victory in their race, posting the second-fastest time of the morning heat race. They narrowly missed placing first, only trailing behind a strong Marist boat by a small margin.
Meanwhile, the Second Varsity 8 crew also performed well, finishing sixth in the Grand Final after placing second in their morning heat race against Marist. While the top overall finish belongs to Colgate and Marist, Smith College’s rowers certainly brought home some strong results from the competition held right here in our county.
