After an impressive nine-match winning streak, the Skidmore College men’s tennis team’s perfect record came to an end. On Friday, the No. 24 ranked Thoroughbreds suffered their first loss of the season, dropping a 5-2 decision to the No. 10 ranked Kenyon College Eagles at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center in Saratoga Springs.
The match was suspended earlier due to spring break, and Skidmore entered play down a crucial doubles point. However, the Red Dragons fought back in singles, with victories securing the match. Key wins came from Ege Topbas, who defeated Juozas Cioladis in a tight three-setter, and Radin Sadeghi, who won his match in a super tiebreak after dropping the first set.
The team now looks forward to its next match, set for next Saturday, April 18. The No. 24 Skidmore Eagles will host the No. 23 NYU Violets at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
