Congratulations to Galway native Hunter Fales, a graduate of Saratoga Central Catholic, who has earned Empire 8 Rookie of the Week honors! Playing for St. John Fisher as a freshman catcher, Fales is making an immediate impact on the collegiate baseball scene.
His performance this past week was truly impressive, highlighted by hitting .500 with a monstrous slugging percentage of 1.000 and an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of 1.654. In just five at-bats, he slugged two home runs, one double, scored five runs, and drove in five runs. He also showcased his defensive skills by contributing with two caught stealing.
Fales got off to a fast start at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a homer, three runs, and three RBI in a 18-5 win over Keuka College. He followed that up with a strong performance, homering and driving in two more runs in a 9-5 victory against SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The Cardinals had an unbeaten week thanks in part to Fales’ efforts!
