Franklin & Marshall College’s women’s rowing team got off to a thrilling start to the spring 2026 season this past weekend at the Skidmore Sprints regatta in Saratoga Springs. Competing against some of the top NCAA Division III teams in the country, including Skidmore, Williams, Wellesley, and Bryn Mawr, the Diplomats showed impressive determination right from the outset.
The top Varsity 8+ boat finished the challenging first race in 7:39.8, narrowly trailing Bryn Mawr by less than 2.5 seconds. Head Coach Bob Brady praised his crew, noting they “were able to be in it” against a strong opponent and highlighted their significant potential for the rest of the season. Later, the second Varsity 8+, filled with novice rowers racing as the Third Varsity 8+, earned third place against Williams and Wellesley with a time of 9:03.1. Brady also commended the performance of these newer rowers and the Freshmen/Novice 4+, calling them “learning and developing everyday.”
Now, the focus shifts to the upcoming Knecht Cup, set for Camden, New Jersey, next weekend (April 11-12). This continued action promises more exciting developments for the F&M women’s rowing program as they build on their strong start to the spring season.
