Hi Saratoga County friends! The track got off to a winning start on Monday, April 20th, with a familiar face taking the victory at Saratoga Casino Hotel. The defending Horse of the Year, But Why, returned to the winner’s circle, securing his second consecutive win in the $16,500 Open Trot.
Driven by his regular pilot Jimmy Devaux, But Why overcame an outside starting position to take command early. He clocked a solid quarter in :27.4 and powered through to a winning time of 1:57.4. Although Malibu Kid kept pushing and nearly touched off But Why in the final strides, the champion gelding held on by the narrowest of margins for the blanket finish.
