Roberta “Bobbie” Schecter Mintzer, a long-time resident of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Saratoga Springs on June 16, 1935, to the late Max and Ida Sherman Schecter, she grew up in the community where she also worked in her family’s business, The New York Bargain Store, before attending college and graduating from William Smith College in 1957.
After college, Bobbie worked briefly as a secretary before marrying her husband, Charles “Charley” March, on March 16, 1958. She later found fulfillment in her husband’s business, Mac Finn Drug Company, managing charge accounts – a role that became particularly significant before the era of widespread credit cards. Bobbie was also a dedicated member of Congregation Shaara Tfille for many years.
Survivors include her son, Leonard, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Mintzer Redfearn. Bobbie’s funeral service was held on April 22, 2026, at Congregation Shaara Tfille, followed by burial at the Jewish Community Center Cemetery.
