Local resident Roberta “Bobbie” Schecter Mintzer, known to many as Bobbie, passed away peacefully at the Washington Center in Saratoga Springs on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Saratoga Springs in 1935, Bobbie spent her life here, leaving behind fond memories for friends and family.
Before attending William Smith College and graduating in 1957, Bobbie worked in her family’s business, The New York Bargain Store. She later worked for her husband, Charley, at Mac Finn Drug Company, managing charge accounts, a role made possible just before the era of common credit cards. Bobbie was also a long-standing member of Congregation Shaara Tfille in the community.
Survivors include her son Leonard, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobbie was predeceased by her husband, her daughter Deborah, and her parents. A funeral service was held on April 22, 2026, at Congregation Shaara Tfille, followed by burial at the Jewish Community Center Cemetery.
