It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mary Percifeld, a cherished member of our Saratoga Springs community, who passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2026, at the remarkable age of 96. A native of Brooklyn, Mary built a life dedicated to family and education, eventually finding her calling as a beloved teacher in the Saratoga County school system.
Mary was a true educator at her core, spending 40 years teaching, with a particular impact in the sixth-grade classroom. She had an incredible gift for seeing the potential in every child and making them feel valued, often finding herself in high demand as a teacher. Her belief in the individual was profound, and her influence extended far beyond the classroom.
Known for her warm and open heart, Mary embraced everyone she met. She was passionate about reading, particularly The New York Times, and believed in the enduring power of books, often gifting them as cherished gifts. She was also an accomplished baker, known for her generosity, leaving behind fond memories of her delicious creations. The Percifeld family asks for your prayers and support as they grieve her loss.
