Saratoga Springs City Council gathered recently, tackling several key issues for the community, including updates on charter reform and potential changes to the city’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The council is actively reviewing recommendations from the Charter Review Commission, moving forward with Phase Two of this important governance update.
A significant step in the charter process is a public forum scheduled for Monday, April 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the council room. Mayor John Safford announced this forum, designed to answer questions about the Commission’s narrowed-down recommendations. These focus on specific charter sections, which were identified after Phase One provided recommendations the council could potentially adopt without a public vote. Residents are encouraged to attend and share their input.
Meanwhile, the City Council is also considering amendments to the UDO. A proposed amendment, set to be discussed further at the April 21 City Council meeting, aims to clarify jurisdiction, improve consistency, encourage property maintenance and compliance, and preserve existing regulations within the city’s land use framework.
