Fantastic news from our area! The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced the graduation of 33 new Park Police officers from the 20th Basic School of the Park Police Academy. The ceremony celebrated these 33 graduates who successfully completed six months of rigorous training at the Renssellaerville academy.
These new officers, coming from across New York State, are now ready to serve and protect visitors and resources across the state’s 250 parks, historic sites, and recreational facilities. Their training covered everything from park and criminal law to investigations, emergency response, and essential hands-on skills like firearms proficiency.
Before officially joining the ranks, the new graduates will undergo a 10-week field training program starting May 4th. The event was highlighted by commendations for the graduates, with special awards given to Officer Kevin Culhane for Leadership, Officer Justin Atristain for Academic Achievement, Officer Dylan Doskocil for Physical Fitness, and Officer Casey Dailey for Firearms Proficiency.
