Congratulations to the Saratoga County Herald! The paper captured 11 prestigious awards at the New York Press Association’s 2025 Better Newspaper Contest. The awards were presented right here in Saratoga Springs during their spring convention last week, April 23-24, recognizing outstanding community journalism right in our own backyard.
Jeffrey Negrin was a standout winner, taking first place for the Best Special Section Cover (Division I) for the Herald’s basketball section. He also earned second place in the same category for a Rockville Centre cover. Creative work, especially cover designs, received high praise from the judges, with comments highlighting the clean layout and effective use of design elements.
Other honors included second place for Best Special Section in Advertising (featuring Karen Bloom, Rhonda Glickman, and Ellen Reynolds) and second and third place for Best Multi-Advertiser Pages (featuring Brad Harmon and Ellen Reynolds). The editorial team also shone, with second-place recognition for consistently excellent editorial pages appearing in every weekly edition and third place for editorials. The Herald’s publisher emphasized their pride in serving the community through comprehensive local news.
