Ballston Spa softball got back to its winning ways in impressive fashion on Saturday, returning home to defeat the Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds 4-1. This victory marked a strong comeback after the Spartans suffered a tough loss on the road earlier in the week.
The home advantage clearly suited the Ballston Spa offense and their ace pitcher. Makayla LaRose dominated the mound, pitching all seven innings and tallying six strikeouts while only surrendering one unearned run on four hits. Her consistent performance has been reliable lately, including four straight outings with at least five strikeouts.
Offensively, Avery Santoro delivered a key 2-for-2 performance at the plate, driving in two runs and adding a double. Madelyn Ebbecke also chipped in significantly, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a double. The win improved Ballston Spa’s overall record to 5-2 and snapped Kellenberg Memorial’s winning streak against them, settling a previous rivalry game score.
Keep an eye out for the Spartans next Saturday when they host Wellsville at 12:00 p.m. Kellenberg Memorial will be hosting the Bethlehem Central squad at 10:00 a.m.
