A beloved member of the Ballston Spa community, Theresa M. LaPorte, R.N., passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Born in Amsterdam, New York, Theresa was the daughter of the late Andre and Helen Hassfurter LaPorte. She attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School and graduated from SUNY Fredonia (formerly FMCC) with a nursing degree, following in the footsteps of her career path that would later take her to Richmond, Virginia and Syracuse before retiring from SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital after more than 35 years of dedicated service.
Theresa was known for her compassionate care and commitment to her profession. When she wasn’t busy tending to patients, she cherished time spent with family and friends. She is survived by siblings Andre LaPorte Jr., Shirley LaPorte, and Marie Quiri, along with a dear friend and caregiver, Diane Gray, and many other relatives and friends who will remember her kindness and legacy.
As a thank you for her service and inspiration, memorial contributions are suggested to the SUNY Fredonia (formerly FMCC) Foundation. cremation arrangements were entrusted to Rose & Hughes Funeral Home. Theresa’s life touched many lives, and her memory will continue to inspire future generations of nurses.
