With the state baseball postseason just around the corner, Section 2 is once again set to send talented teams to the tournament. Over the last 11 seasons (excluding 2020-21), this region has consistently produced at least one state champion. This spring, the excitement continues with seven standout players emerging who could lead their teams to glory.
These athletes are making waves across the state’s rankings. For example, Kyle Abbott of South Glens Falls is excelling both as a potent pitcher (4-1, 0.77 ERA) and a dangerous hitter (.400, 20 RBIs). Brendan Brodzinski of Maple Hill is hitting an impressive .566 with power and speed, while Jack Doyle (.490, 8 doubles) is putting up strong numbers for the Bulldogs, who boast an impressive 14-2 record.
Other local talents include Scott Hutton (.396, key hits) behind the plate for Bethlehem, Braeden Kilgallon (.437, big numbers) as Averill Park’s catcher, and Cody Mills (.400, 23 RBIs) enjoying a strong first season with Saratoga Springs.
