Averill Park’s boys’ lacrosse team secured a solid victory against Glens Falls with an 8-4 score on Saturday. Despite Glens Falls jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first quarter, powered by Nolan Santamore’s two goals and Deklin Malison’s tally, the Golden Knights demonstrated impressive resilience.
The tide turned midway through the game. Averill Park scored three goals in the second quarter to level the match at halftime. They didn’t stop there, adding five unanswered goals across the third and early part of the fourth quarter to complete an impressive eight-goal comeback from a three-goal deficit.
Leading the offensive charge for Averill Park was Mason Phelps, who netted four goals, capitalizing on chances created by his teammates’ crisp ball movement. Coach Vince Hoff credited the team’s improved composure and controlled play in the latter part of the game for the victory.
The win marks an important step for the Golden Knights as they prepare for the challenging Suburban Council games ahead. The team showed significant improvement defensively after the slow start, with Logan Graham making crucial saves.
