A local resident passed away recently, leaving behind memories cherished by family and friends. Thomas Herrington, a beloved figure from the Glens Falls area, peacefully passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 98 in Bellevue, Washington.
Tom was born in Schenectady, New York, in 1928, and spent his early years in a close-knit household in Glens Falls. Following his upbringing, he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and served his country in the U.S. Army during two separate periods, achieving the rank of Major. After his military service, Tom enjoyed a career as a sales manager and insurance adjuster.
Known for his quiet generosity and deep compassion, Tom led a life characterized by humility and integrity. He had a passion for automobiles and travel, always ready to help others, often anonymously. Though private, his impact on the community was felt through his character. Tom’s wish is to be laid to rest in New York, reunited with his parents. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Smiles Foundation.
