In a tragic incident near Glens Falls, state police have charged a son with endangering the welfare of his 89-year-old mother following her death in February 2025.
The elderly woman, Nancy Polizzi, was found deceased inside a shed on her property. According to investigators, she had reportedly been living in the structure since August 2024 without access to basic necessities like heat or running water, and her health was deteriorating significantly before she died.
Her official cause of death was sepsis from bedsores, and authorities determined the death was a homicide. The son, Joseph Polizzi, 64, is charged with criminally negligent homicide and endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person. He is the alleged primary caretaker and did not ensure she received proper medical attention. Mr. Polizzi has been released on bail.
