A beloved Glens Falls resident for 57 years, Elizabeth Rollo passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Shaker Place Nursing Center in Albany, just before celebrating her 93rd birthday. Born in Fort Edward in 1930, Elizabeth was a graduate of Fort Edward High School and spent several years working at Marinette Paper Company before becoming a dedicated secretary/receptionist for Abbott Securities. She married Leonard A. Rollo in 1951, building a life together that lasted for four decades until his passing in 1993.
Elizabeth was immensely proud of her three sons, David, James, and Thomas, whom she raised alongside her husband. She was a long-standing communicant and active volunteer at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls, finding joy in remaining independent in her own home until her later years. Her life touched many, particularly through her family and her community service.
Elizabeth is survived by her five grandchildren and great-grandson, her siblings Edward, James, Frances, Jane, Norma, and Kathleen, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family expresses gratitude to the Shaker Place staff for their compassionate care during her final months. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023, at St. Mary’s Church, followed by a Mass and burial at Union Cemetery, Fort Edward. Donations can be made to St. Mary’s Church.
